RENEWABLE ENERGY POLICY

Renewable energy policy strategies are being implemented at different levels (from international to sub-national), and while some are relevant to the transport sector overall, others are specific to certain sub-sectors to accommodate the needs and preferences of different industries and users.

There is a broad range of benefits to transitioning to sustainable energy. Below we’ll list the top ways sustainable energy can positively impact our UAB DELCA LOGISTIC community and planet:

  • Improves Public Health – The burning of fossil fuels in coal and natural gas plants is directly tied with many serious public health issues, such as neurological damage, cancer, heart attacks, breathing problems and premature death. When fossil fuels are burned for energy, they release air and water pollution that negatively affect surrounding communities and environments.
  • Decreases Your Carbon Footprint – Sustainable energy, such as wind and solar energy, creates zero carbon emissions that can harm the atmosphere and contribute to global warming. It offsets the need for fossil fuels, which are actively increasing climate change and polluting our earth.
  • Energy Security – Sustainable energy is by definition the most reliable form of energy. It will never deplete and can remove our reliance on imported fossil fuels, which are growing more expensive and less accessible. Sustainable energy also helps to conserve the planet’s natural resources and reduce the pollution associated with unsustainable energy.

SUSTAINABLE RECOURCES MANAGEMENT

Sustainable resource management involves practices aimed at meeting the needs of both current and future generations without depleting natural resources or causing harm to the environment. UAB DELCA LOGISTIC follow some key points about sustainable resource management:

  • Balancing Act – It seeks to balance the social benefits and environmental impacts of resource use. By applying scientific concepts like maximum sustainable yield and optimum utilization, it determines acceptable levels of resource use for each type of resource.
  • Environmental Stewardship – Sustainable resource management ensures that we use resources efficiently while minimizing negative effects on ecosystems. It’s about making choices that benefit people and the planet.
  • Renewable Resources – Examples of sustainable resources include hydropower, solar power, and wind power—resources that can be replenished at the same rate or faster than they are consumed.
  • Long-Term Perspective – It’s not just about short-term gains; it focuses on practices that can be continued for years to come, benefiting current and future generations.

In essence, sustainable resource management is about making choices that ensure a healthy planet and a better future for all.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste management refers to all the various actions taken and plans created to manage waste, from composting or recycling existing waste to minimizing the production of waste in the first place. It encompasses several key components and UAB DELCA LOGISTIC we are follow the main points of this policy:

  • Collection – This involves gathering waste from homes, businesses, and other sources. Specialized trash collection trucks are used for regular municipal trash collection in neighborhoods.
  • Transport – Once collected, waste needs to be transported to appropriate facilities for further processing. This can include transfer stations or recycling centers.
  • Treatment – Waste treatment includes various processes to reduce its environmental impact. Examples include composting organic waste, incinerating non-recyclable waste to generate energy, and treating hazardous waste to make it safer for disposal.
  • Disposal – The final step is disposing of waste in a manner that minimizes harm to the environment and public health. Landfills, waste-to-energy plants, and recycling facilities are common disposal methods.
  • Monitoring and Regulation – Effective waste management involves monitoring waste streams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing best practices.
  • Technologies and Economic Mechanisms – Innovations in waste management technologies and economic incentives play a crucial role in improving waste management practices.

DECARBONISATION POLICY

  • Delca Logistic UAB is committed to the Paris Agreement (COP 21: https://unfccc.int/process-and-meetings/the-paris-agreement);
  • As part of the nomination process, the supplier undertakes to implement measures to reduce its direct and indirect CO2e emissions (including in its upstream value chain). This includes, for example, the use of green electricity and the use of secondary materials or biomaterials;
  • The precise requirements will be defined within the inquiry and the nomination process, and will be anchored in the contract, while compliance is reviewed annually. Compliance with the requirements concerning CO2e emissions reduction is a decisive criterion for us in the process of selecting our suppliers;
  • We expect our suppliers to ensure transparency with regard to their own emissions as well as those of the upstream supply chains and to set reduction targets, including targets that apply to their supply chain. Delca Logistic UAB reviews this agreement annually by inviting relevant specialists to participate and evaluate.

RESPONSIBLE CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT POLICY

  • Delca Logistic UAB exposure to chemicals when the vehicle is being serviced;
  • We continuously looking for less precarious alternatives. We prohibit or restrict the use of specific substances, which are prioritized substances of concern due to effects on human health, environment and/or risk for future prohibition. Restricted substances should only be used when no technically and economically feasible alternatives are available;
  • Partnerships are integral to our attitude to chemical management. We work closely with regulatory authorities, responsible associations and non-governmental organizations to monitor and to evaluate developments on responsible chemical management. This policy is reviewed annually.

NOISE EMISSIONS POLICY AREA

  • Policies for local noise prevention measures include Abatement of noise at its source, i.e. i.e. strict noise emission restrictions in type approval procedures for tires, new motor vehicles; environmental protection zones or low noise emission zones (restrictions on the entry of heavy/noisy vehicles); prohibition to drive or fly at night; speed limits; traffic flow management; transport demand management, including promotion of public transport; cycling and walking. Some of these measures are also useful in reducing air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, accidents and infrastructure wear and tear;
  • Enter and leave the premises with your vehicles as quietly as possible. When you have an early start, park the vehicle as far from the neighbors’ premises as possible and leave as soon as possible after the engine has started without revving the engine excessively.

REUSE AND RECYCLING

In particular, one of Delca Logistic UAB focus areas is tires management: as our fleet continues to grow, used tires are becoming a significant environmental factor. To manage this topic and focus our efforts on the areas with the biggest impact, we are following the methodology and questionnaire of the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), and the environmental management system ISO 14001.

  • We use only energy-saving light bulbs on our premises
  • Our company gifts are made of recycled materials
  • The company collects batteries and hands them over to disposal partners
  • Energy efficiency is evaluated every time we acquire electric equipment, appliances, or hardware
  • We constantly improve our business processes to eliminate paper use
  • All waste generated by our maintenance center and the offices is meticulously sorted
  • We use only paper packaging
  • Joining an initiative #Walk15 to plant virtual trees to absorb CO2 emissions.
